Click “Tools” then click “Email Accounts”. |
Select “Add a new Email Account” using the radio button and click “Next”. |
Select “POP3” using the radio button. |
Outlook will then display the POP3 settings for your email account – it contains the following fields:
User Information
These two fields contain your details as they would be displayed on your recipient’s computer.
By default, Exertion clients will be required to enter: yourname@yourdomain.com
Logon Information
These fields should contain you email username and password.
By default, Exertion clients will be required to enter: yourname@yourdomain.com
Server Information
These fields should contain your POP3 (incoming mail) and SMTP (outgoing mail) server addresses.
By default, Exertion clients will be required to enter: mail.yourdomain.com for both incoming and outgoing servers. |
Once you have checked the details are correct, or if not then you have updated the details with your correct ones, then click the “More Settings” button to finish off configuring Outlook.
This will bring up the “Internet email settings” box.
Click the “Outgoing Server” tab and tick the box which says “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”. |
Now click the “Advanced” tab. You will see a slider bar called “Server Timeouts”.
Move this bar to the right towards “Long” until the timeout reads “9 Minutes 30 Seconds”.
Click “OK”. |
Finally, test the settings by clicking “Test Account Settings”. |
This will send a test email to confirm the account has been configured correctly. If it fails, then go back through the steps detailed above. |
Once you have successfully tested the account settings, click “Next”, then click “Finish”. This will take you back to the Outlook screen you were previously viewing. Outlook has now been correctly configured. |
