Click “start” then click “my computer”.

If you do not have this option, double click the “My Computer” icon on your windows desktop.

Right click on the icon which represents your hard disk drive, (usually called “C:”) then click on “Properties”.

Click the “Tools” tab, then click on “Defragment Now”.

This opens the “Disk defragmenter” window. Click on the hard drive you wish to defragment - usually “C:” then press defragment.

n.b. this process can take a long time. Do not begin to defragment you hard disk until you have completed any tasks which you have open.
