Click “Start”
Click either “Control Panel” or, if this is not an option, “Settings” then “Control Panel” |

| Click “security center” - this opens the windows security center. |  |

| All of the items under security essentials should say “on”.
If they do not, click the button which turns on the item. |  |

You should also check to ensure alerts are enabled for these items. To do this, click on “change the way security center alerts me”, the bottom item of the resources section. |

Click “OK” |

This opens the alert settings window. Place a tick in all of the boxes and press ok. You can now close the windows security center and close the control panel |
